Microneedling

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that may help rejuvenate the skin by exfoliating the outermost layer. This treatment can reveal a potentially brighter and smoother complexion, and it may reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, age spots, and uneven skin tone. Microdermabrasion aims to promote the growth of new skin cells, contributing to improved skin texture and appearance. Whether you’re considering treatment for your face, neck, hands, or other areas, microdermabrasion is generally considered a safe option when performed by a qualified practitioner. However, individual results may vary, and it's important to consult with a professional to determine if this treatment is right for you.

The Candela Exceed™ medical microneedling device is the first dual-indicated, FDA-cleared medical microneedling system for the treatment of both facial wrinkles and facial acne scar reduction.

  • Minimal downtime. You will be back to your normal self in no time.

  • Radiant skin in no time. Once you are numb, the whole process is done in about 30 minutes.

  • You will leave your appointment with your skin red and swollen for a few days. It is normal for your skin to peel or flake off. It is comparable to a severe sunburn.

  • Candella Exceed is an FDA-approved microneedling device with a proven track record. Feel confident that you are being treated with the best.

  • Microneedling activates your body’s collagen production and can reverse signs of aging. You will see improvement in skin texture, pores, wrinkles, and scars.

  • Consider PRP/PRF or ZO skin health add-on for even better results. Platelet-rich fibrins are the growth factors found in your own body.

What should you expect

Treatment

If you opt for PRF add-on, the treatment starts with simple lab draw. The practitioner will draw a small amount of blood and spin it through a centrifuge to isolate the PRFs from the rest of the blood. After, numbing cream will be applied over the treatment areas for 15-20 minutes or until you are numb.

The treatment areas are then cleansed carefully and the treatment starts. A handheld device will move over your skin, making numerous micro-punctures to a targeted specific depth. The whole process takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour.

Recovery

Your skin will appear red and swollen for a few days after the treatment. Your skin may start peeling or flaking off in a few days, much like a severe sunburn.

Other than the redness and swelling, there are no severe side effects. You can resume most of your daily activities immediately, though you should avoid strenuous workouts for a few days. You should also wear sunscreen whenever you go out and avoid direct sunlight as much as possible.

Results

Your body will gradually start producing new skin cells to replace the older damaged skin. As your skin peels off, it will reveal the underlying skin tissues, which will be a lot healthier, smoother, and tighter.

You will most likely need 3-4 treatments for optimal results. During your consultation, we will provide the ideal treatment schedule for your desired results.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Microneedling is a procedure where a device slides along the skin, penetrating the upper layers to a depth of up to 2mm. This action signals the body to respond by producing collagen and elastin fibers. Consequently, the skin becomes fuller, reducing the appearance of scars, lines, and wrinkles. Microneedling is a rejuvenating treatment that stimulates the skin's natural healing processes for improved texture and tone.

  • With a numbed face, the microneedling treatment feels like little more than light pressure on the face, occasionally accompanied by a mild sparking sensation. The numbing helps ensure your comfort during the procedure, making it a generally tolerable experience.

  • PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is crafted from a person's own blood. It is a concentrated blend of plasma cells and specific growth factors. When injected into tissue, PRP bathes the cells, naturally stimulating the healing process. This innovative approach utilizes the body's own resources to enhance healing and rejuvenation.

  • The inflammation of the skin is very temporary and significantly reduces within a few hours post-treatment. It may remain slightly pink for up to 48 hours after the procedure. Utilizing hyaluronic acid after the procedure can help further reduce inflammation, and sunscreen is recommended to protect the skin. If you choose to use makeup during the recovery period, it's advisable to limit it to mineral makeup for optimal skin care.

  • The number of treatments required depends on the specific skin condition. For moderate acne scars, three to four treatments may be needed, while thermal burns and stretch marks may require up to five treatments. For wrinkles caused by aging, one or two refresher treatments are recommended per year.

Microneedling can be safely repeated every four to six weeks, as needed. Collagen induction typically requires a minimum of three treatments, while scar reduction may necessitate between three and six sessions. It's advisable to allow four to six weeks between each treatment to optimize the healing and rejuvenation process.

  • Medical microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and colors without the risk of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation. This makes it a versatile and inclusive option for individuals with various skin tones and types.

  • The Microneedling treatment itself typically takes about 45 minutes. However, an additional 30 to 45 minutes is usually allocated beforehand for the application of numbing cream to ensure your comfort during the procedure. The combined time allows for a comprehensive and comfortable Microneedling experience.
